Here are some comments received today from delegates who attended one of my courses earlier in 2011

“ ..you have shown me that sedation and gentle painless dentistry is more of a practice builder than anything else. I have employed this in my daily practice” ..

” I find being able to treat someone that hasn't been able to visit the dentist due to fear much more inspirational than reading the 1000th article about veneers and bleaching we find in every journal! “

Dr Uzman al Haq.

"I really enjoyed the course and I am seeing not only children but also adult patients under RA now. You might remember me, I am a paediatric dentist."

and in reply a request for her vote in the 2011 Private Dentistry Elite 20 awards she said  "You have my vote already!"
Makbule Ogretme (Mac).

I Hope everything is going well in your surgery and about your excellent RA courses. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. you in any way.

Kind regards and best wishes to you and your wife

Esperanza Salazar

Other Testimonials, Endorsements and course reports

I am most grateful to Alun Rees, Dentist and Professional Business Coach for his unsolicited and indeed unexpected testimonial published in his e-zine on Thursday May 28th. :

"Richard Charon, the RA Coach, has run his RA courses in Newbury and beyond for many years and has glowing testimonials from both patients and course students that are testament to his expertise as a cllinician and teacher. In recent months Richard has embraced Web 2.0 in a big way so that there is an RA Coach Facebook page, a blog and regular Twitter updates from the man who is a model in finding a niche. His next course in June is fully subscribed but the one after in July has a few spaces free. You'll possibly change the way that you work for ever."

Facial Aesthetics - A New Avenue?

Tonight I received the following Message from Dr. Peter Mounce, which shows great promise for using RA in Facial Aesthetic work undertaken by dentists:

"We are all well and getting into RA.

Several cases completed now with good to excellent results.

2 mobile machines in operation working well with one portable scavenger unit - not clashed on usage yet.

Most remarkable cases to date :
20 external facial injections of Restylane without dental anaesthesia (no infra orbital and mental blocks) just 60:40 RA and accepted well by patients who reported 1-2 on pain scale of 1-10
and who where fully functioning at the conclusion - no 4 hr local to wear off!

Vast improvement....

Our best wishes to you and your team from the Smile Team and me. "

Smiles Dental Spa Hands-on RA Course

Dublin 11th October 2008

On a beautiful, sunny autumn day in Dublin , fifteen members of the Smile Dental Spa group of dental practices, gave up their Saturday to come and learn about RA/Inhalation Sedation in Group’s flagship Practice. My wife Chris, who as an RDN and certified Dental Sedation Assistant helps me run the course, facilitated by one of the group’s two clinical director, Dr. Anne O’Donnell from Wexford, ably assisted by her husband Shane.

The Smile Spa group’s flagship practice occupies an extraordinary position in central Dublin. Housed in an ornate Georgian building with massive Corinthian Pillars at its grand entrance, it  had formerly been a bank. Various storage, staff and radiography facilities in the basement, occupy the original bank vaults, still with their armoured doors!

The building overlooks the historic General Post Office in O’Connell St. the site of the heart of the Easter uprising and subsequent birth of the independant Irish state in 1916. O'Connell is, I suppose, equivalent to London’s Oxford St. though it is a real boulevard in scale.

The stunning 260m high Dublin Spire is just a few steps from the practice entrance !

The fifteen delegates included dentists and DNs from the multi-chair clinic, set out as most us remember a dental hospital dept. On the First floor are two splendidly laid-out more traditional surgeries, thjough in a very contemporary style. A large one and a smaller one where more advanced treatments are normally done.

The day’s teaching on Inhalation Sedation was carried out there with video link to the smaller surgery where the practical sessions took place. Additional video of real-time patient treatment both children and adults were shown to the group.  As usual there was plenty of opportunity for interactive discussion.

Current plans include a return visit to train further members of the group .
